The 1st,3rd,and 5th photo's light source are streetlights during/after dusk at Balboa, 2nd and 4th photo were taken during the afternoon, and the 6th photo was taken inside the studio with the hot light. The photos convey a dreamy, dazy feeling.

Abstracted Face
For this piece I decided to photograph my friend Faith with an assortment of fake white, pink, purple/lilac flowers in front of her face. I had taken most of the photos in focus, however towards the end i decided to play with the shutter speed, making the pictures blurry and I ended up liking them more because i feel they show greater emotion. She wore a lilac top with flowers to match. |
Robin North Inspiration
For this piece I decided to photograph things and places that have been significant in my experience as a Mexican American living in San Diego who frequently goes to Tijuana. I shot Chicano Park on a regular day, but also on Chicano Park Day where there was Danza Azteca and a lowrider show. I decided to incorporate these because it not only shows our Indigenous roots, but also our Mexican American culture. In Tijuana, I photographed the bakery that I grew up going to, the street art, and a street corner with the 7up sign that is notorious to my family and I.

In this series, he reconstructs the narrative and repositions Black bodies not as stereotypes but as people of agency and privilege of labor ownership. What stood out to me was their beautiful clothing and their powerful stance and expression.

Dusk Mixed Lighting Source
I shot this photo in Balboa of my dad during dusk. I liked the warm light that the street lamp was projecting.

Experimentation/Happy Accidents
For this assignment I experimented with the shutter speed on the camera. Initially I shot with the strobe directly in front of my mode and ended up turning it diagonally which I ended up liking more. I combined three images and lowered the opacity of the image on the top left, and bottom right. I used the burn tool to make the images blend better to the background.

Blur Assignment- Focus Fail
From doing this assignment I learned how to arrange photos together and take color and shape in consideration while doing so. I chose to place the only shot I took with two people in it (side angel) and the only photo with majority of cool tones in the center. I decided to place the shots with pink light in the corners and the shots with orange and yellow light in between them.

Prompt #3- Use Image to Describe your Style
Corazon Mio-
In my photos I like to choose themes regarding my culture and use warmer light. I used a piece of lace to represent a veil and dressed my model in traditional clothing with their hair in ribbon braids. I photoshopped a human heart onto the photo as it is a symbol that is very significant to me and I've incorporated it into my pieces before. It symbolizes hope, faith, and love.
